Zero Carbon Chancel School
Why are we joining Zero Carbon Rugeley?
The UK government is committed to sustainable growth and the green agenda. The Zero Carbon Policy requires all new homes from 2016 to mitigate all the carbon emissions generated through energy use; including: energy used to provide space heating and cooling, hot water and fixed lighting. The government have also set a target for all schools to be Zero Carbon by 2030. Zero Carbon Rugeley is an opportunity to support the government’s agenda and help our school and the wider community achieve Zero Carbon Status.
What are we aiming to achieve?
We would like the school to be more sustainable and reduce the carbon emissions generated through energy use. We want to be a school that, on its site and through all its activities and procurement, does not contribute to climate change through carbon emissions. Key impact areas include energy use, travel, waste, water, procurement, food and school grounds.
Embedding Zero Carbon in our curriculum:
We believe that our students should be taught about the importance of sustainable energy, fighting climate change and ensuring the longevity of our planet.
